Darrel Leo Blankenship, 91 of Decatur died Wednesday November 22, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family.
A family service will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to DMH Hospice. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Darrel was born in Vandalia, Illinois, son of Fernie and Dana Blankenship. He served in the Army during WW II. He was a truck driver and a member of Teamster Union for thirty-two years. He also worked for the Herald and Review as a bundle route driver for many years.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Cheryl) Blankenship of Decatur, Chris (Mary Jo) Blankenship of Plainfield, Illinois, Sherry (Terry) Craw of Decatur, Kim Benedetti of Walden, Colorado, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, brother, Dale (Pat) Blankenship of Vandalia, Illinois, sister, Nancy Leslie of Tallahassee, Florida, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and several brothers and sisters.
