Gerald Delvin Grasch, 82, of Decatur, died, Sunday, February, 4, 2018 in Presence St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be 12 Noon, Thursday, February 8, 2018 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1 Bachrach Court, Decatur, with Pastor Eric Trickey officiating. Visitation will be 10-12noon on Thursday, in the church. Burial will follow in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Northeast Community Fund or St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Services is in charge of the arrangements.
Gerald was born October 10, 1935 in Natoma, Kansas, the son of Armin”Mike” and Martha “Elizabeth”(Blank) Grasch. Gerald was a 1958 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering. He was an engineer at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a past member of the Decatur Aero Flying Club. Gerald married Carolyn Huffer in August of 1964 and she preceded him in death in October of 2012.
Surviving are his son Michael Grasch and wife Sarah of Lexington, Kentucky; daughter Susan Green and husband Chris of Bourbonnais; grandchildren David and Jonathan Grasch and Megan and Luke Green.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Gerald had many interests in life. Among them were Bible Study, travel, gardening, flying, boating, attending theatrical performances and wine making.
Gerald had an active life until about eighteen months ago, when his health started to decline. The family wishes to thank all those who supported Gerald during this time.
