Albert “Al” Drew Helphrey, 81 of Decatur died July 15, 2020.
Reunited with Gudrun, Albert will be laid to rest in Peck Cemetery in Oakley Illinois.
Graveside services will be Thursday, July 30, at 3:00 p.m.
Al was born in March of 1939 to Drew and Ruth Helphrey. He served in the U.S. Army, a Vietnam Veteran stationed in Fort Lewis Washington & Mannheim, West Germany. While Stationed in Germany he met the love of his life Gudrun Weber, they were married in June of 1965. Married for 55 years, Gudrun preceded him in death on in November of 2018. He loved fishing, hunting and most of all woodworking of which he created many beautiful items throughout the years.
Surviving are his daughters: Patricia (Steve) Likins, Susanne Helphrey, Sons: Patrick (Lisa) Helphrey, Daniel (Kathy) Helphrey. Grandkids: Stephanie, Tyler, Marissa, Kylie, Alicia. Great Grankids: Carter, Olivia, Paislee. Brother-in-law Werner and his son Frank. Sister-in-law Ursula and family.
Preceded by: His wife Gudrun, Parents, Son, Mother and Father-in-law, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.
