Carole Kay Keirl, 76, of Decatur died at 2:50 am. Sunday, August 5, 2018 in her home following a lengthy battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Funeral service to celebrate Carole’s life will be held 11:00 am. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (1 Bachrach Court Decatur, Illinois 62526). Visitation will be 5:00 pm. To 7:00 pm. Wednesday August 8, 2018 also at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Carole was born in January of 1942 in Jacksonville, Illinois daughter of C. Dale and Lois M. Williams. She married Russell C. Keirl in July of 1961 at Salem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville and he survives.

Carole was a 1959 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She and her family moved to Decatur in 1980 and opened a small print shop, Print n Copy, which her husband and son still operate. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Salem Lutheran Church Jacksonville, and was a former member of Our Redeemer Jacksonville. She was currently a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran of Decatur, where she was active in Choir and Stephen Ministry.

She is survived by husband Russell, sons, Russell Scott (Sam) Keirl of Makanda and Douglas Todd Keirl of Decatur, grandsons, Ryan Tyler (Whitney) of Cerro Gordo, Chad Russell Keirl of Decatur, great granddaughter, Ryleigh Morgan Keirl of Cerro Gordo, sister, Deanna Dale Beem of Cadillac, Michigan, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who all referred to her as Aunt Kay, and former daughter-in-law Diane Keirl of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her sister Judy Long who succumbed to the same illness Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and a nephew, Hollis Keith Long in infancy.
