Betty Ann Rigg 1932-2018


Betty A. Rigg, 86, of Mt. Sterling, formerly of Oreana, died at 3:25 am, Sunday, September 30, 2018 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois.

Visitation will be at Oreana Christian Church, Oreana, from 10:30 am -11:30 am on Thursday, October 4, 2018. Burial and graveside service will be at 12 noon at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta following the visitation.  Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Shaw was born in Quincy, Illinois in June of 1932, the daughter of Lucille and Chester Shaw. She married Donald D. Rigg in Quincy in June of 1951. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are her son, Tracy L. (Diann) of Decatur; grandchildren, Emilee Rigg (Derek Milleville), Heidi and Clint Fombelle, and Aaron Rigg; two great grandchildren, Ryker Milleville and Teagan Fombelle, all of Decatur; sisters, Ethel Beeler, Linda Shaw, Phyllis Epping, and Sharon Johnson.

Betty was preceded by her parents, husband, and two siblings.

Donald Eugene Payne 1928-2018



Donald Eugene Payne, 90, of Decatur died at 12:10 am Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Imboden Creek Living Center.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Don’s life will be 10:00 am Friday, September 28, 2018 at Harvest Christian Center (2199 North Water Street, Decatur, Illinois 62526) with Pastor Kirk Henneberry officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, September 27, 2018 beginning at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Private burial will be at a later date in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Harvest Christian Center. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Don was born in August of 1928 in Decatur, the son of Guy and Daisey Payne. He served in the United States Air Force. Don worked for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel as a welder and later worked in maintenance for South Side Country Club. He married Barbara Ann Morey in 1951 and she preceded him in death in 1986. He married Helen LaVerne Jones in October  of 1988.

Surviving are his wife, Helen, sons, Dennis (Debra) Payne, Kevin (Tina) Payne, Mark Payne all of Decatur; step-children, David (Tracie) Frazee of Decatur, James (Cheryl) Frazee of Denver, Colorado; Kathy Frazee of Bement, Illinois; sister, Ethel Liston of Irving, Illinois; numerous grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; stepchildren, Daniel Frazee and John Frazee; two sisters and one brother.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the fourth and sixth floors at St. Mary’s Hospital and the staff at Imboden Creek Living Center.

Joan Price 1929-2018


Joan Price of Sullivan formerly of Decatur died Wednesday September 12, 2018 at Mason Point Nursing Home, Sullivan, Illinois.

A private family service to celebrate Joan’s life was held. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care assisted the family with her arrangements.

Joan was born in November of 1929 in Blue Mound, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin and Helen Marie Estell. She graduated from Decatur High School and worked as a clerk for the Decatur Public Library.

Surviving are her daughters, Brenda (Raymond) Harry of Brenham, Texas, Roberta Price of Tolono, Illinois, son, Timothy (Rhonda) Price of Valley Center, Kansas, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Laura Thompson.

Joyce I. Troxell 1929-2018


Joyce I. Troxell, 89, of Macon, Illinois died Saturday September 15, 2018 in the Eastern Star Home Macon, Illinois.

Funeral service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be 11:00 am. Wednesday September 19, 2018 at Elwin United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in Macon Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Elwin United Methodist Church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Joyce was born in Decatur, Illinois in March of 1929 daughter of Ralph and Ruth Price.  She graduated from Macon High School. Joyce worked for J.C. Penny in sales and was a homemaker. She married Leon Troxell in January of 1949 and he preceded her in death in 2012. She loved music and was active in the church choir, and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was active in WSCS, Home Extension and a 4H leader.

Surviving are her daughters, Marsha (Russell) Hedges, Gayle (Brian) Albert of Macon, Illinois, grandchildren, Stephanie Tomlinson, Stacey Randol, Nicole Albert-Canaday, Clint Albert, great grandchildren, Avery, Piper, and Jace Canaday, three step-grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren and one step- great great grandson.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Virginia Wilking, brothers, Lyle and Dale Price, son Ron Troxell.

Richard Dale Harned 1928-2018


Richard Dale Harned, 90, of Decatur, passed away peacefully September 15, 2018 at Life’s Journey in Pana, Illinois.

He was born in Lovington. Illinois in July of 1928 to Carl and Florence Harned.  He is a member of the First United Methodist Church, Decatur.  He is a Veteran of The United States Army serving in Korea.  He retired from Miles Chevrolet’s Parts Department in 2009.  He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and carpentry helping many family and friends.

  He is survived by his wife Juanita “ Nita”, eleven step-children, Roger, Carol, Norma, Jackie, Kathy, Mike, Steve, Jenna, Joyce, Jeff, Lynn, brother Francis, nephews Mitch and Tim, numerous step grand and step great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin, David & Donald and first wife Betty Jo.

Graveside services 10:00 am Wednesday September 19, 2018 at North Fork Cemetery.  Pastor Miley Palmer will officiate. No visitation.

Wilma Lucille Jones 1929-2018


Wilma Lucille Jones, 89, of Decatur, Illinois,  passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Generations at McKinley Court.

A memorial service will be on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:30 am until service time at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (1 Bachrach Court, Decatur, Illinois) with Pastor Bill Grueinger officiating. Wilma was born in July of 1929, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Helen Neibuhr. She was married to Charles (Chuck) Jones. He preceded her in death.

Wilma graduated from Maroa Forsyth High School. She retired from Firestone, Decatur, Illinois.

Wilma is survived by one son, Barry Spang of Decatur, Illinois; grandchildren, Patrick (Tracy) Spang of Schererville, Indiana, Jason (Lauren) Spang of Walnut, Illinois, Pam (Randall) Jenkins of Forsyth, Illinois, Kyndra Bell of Decatur, Illinois, Julianne (Robert) Salmons of Decatur, Illinois. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and sister, Doris (Pete) Kapper of Forsyth, Illinois.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, and brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Marge Neibuhr.

Virginia Ruth Pigg 1926-2018


Virginia Ruth Pigg, 92, passed into Heaven on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Fair Haven Christian Home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 11:00 am, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Pastor Chris Merritt will officiate. Virginia was born in February of 1926 in McLeansboro, Illinois, the daughter of Caris and Noma Leona Gibbs.

She is survived by her daughter Linda (Steve) Rice of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandson Bart (Suzanne) Rice of Clinton, North Carolina, granddaughter Laurie (Brad) Walker of Redondo Beach, California; great grandchildren Ella, Finley, Boden, Grace and Jack; and one sister JoAnn (Gene) Endicott of McLeansboro, Illinois.

She was preceded by her husband Henry Pigg, parents, and one sister Arlena.

Gail Denice Driscoll 1954-2018


Gail Denice Driscoll, 64, died Sunday, August 19, 2018 at her residence.  A visitation will held Thursday afternoon, August 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Resurrection Life Church (1085 West McKinley Avenue Decatur, Illinois).  Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements.

Gail was born in August of 1954 in Michigan.  She worked at Walmart.  Gail married Tim Driscoll  in January of 1973.

Surviving are her husband, Tim Driscoll, daughter, Shirley Webb (Jason Webb), daughter, Cynthia Jones; grandchildren Timothy Collins (Rachel Collins), Chris Driscoll, Nick Webb, Addison Collins, and Ryker Webb.

Gail was preceded by son Earl Driscoll and granddaughter Alyssa Webb.

Donald G. Redman 1931-2018


Donald G. “Tattoo Man” Redman, of Decatur died at 8:35 am Thursday, August 16, 2018 in Hickory Point Christian Village.  A private service will be held at a later date with burial at Point Pleasant Cemetery.  Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is assisting with the arrangements.

Donald was born in February of 1931 in Michigan, son of H. K. and Frieda Redman.  He worked at A E Staley, Redman’s Used Furniture & Antiques, and was a Local Auctioneer.  Donald served in the US Navy.  He married Shirley A. Owens  in June of 1952.

Surviving are his children; Michael (Dorothy) Damery, Gene (Tina) Redman, Debbie (Joe) Deetz, Diane (Jack) Schenkel, very Special Friend Loretta Stolz; Grandchildren,  Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother.

Misty Michelle Maple-Arndt 1971-2018


Misty Michelle Maple-Arndt, 47, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 12:05 pm in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Her wishes were to be cremated with no funeral services. There will be a private family gathering at a later day. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements.

Misty was born In July of 1971, in Decatur, Illinois to Ronald and Carolyn  Maple.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy; her children – Hillary (Ben) Summers of Decatur, Illinois, Austin Davis of Decatur, Illinois, Savarra Davis; and her mother, Carolyn Maple of Cerro Gordo, Illinois; brothers, Gene Maple of Florida, Steven Maple of Mahomet, Illinois, Bryan (Christina) Maple of Cerro Gordo; sister, Melissa Gollahon-Maple (Jen) of Decatur, Illinois; five grandchildren, Kylie, Ben Jr., Gabriel, Jayden, and Xavier, with a sixth grandchild, Sophia, arriving soon.  There are also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews that survive.

Misty was preceded in death by her father, Ron Maple, Sr.; both sets of grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
