Danny Allan Gamble, “Uncle Remus”, 73 of Stonington, died at 10:00 pm. Monday, August 19, 2019 in his residence.

A visitation and memorial service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held from 10:30 am to noon on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Salem Baptist Church Decatur, Illinois. Rodney McCroskey will be officiating.  Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Danny was born in January 1946 in Charleston, Illinois son of Allan and Thelma (Campbell) Gamble. He graduated from Charleston High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. Danny served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for A.E. Staley for twenty-nine years and ADM for sixteen years. He loved his family, St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed playing golf. Danny married P.J. Phyllis Buoy and they were together for thirty-six years.

Surviving are his wife, P.J. Gamble of Stonington, IL., son, Brian (Missy) Gamble of Fenton, MO., daughters, Alicia Gamble of Milwaukee, WI., Kim (Tony) Rauch of Dalton City, IL., Konnie Bates of Mt. Zion, IL., son, Rick Heathcock, sisters, Kay (Myron) Shonkwiler of Arcola, Vicki Irby of Charleston, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many many “Old Timer” golfer friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kerri, a great granddaughter, a great grandson and brother-in-law, Larry Irby.
