Harry Franklin Petitt Sr, age 72, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Illinois.
A private family graveside service will be held in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the family in care of Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care.
Harry was born in December of 1948 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Chester and Ruth (Lujan) Petitt. Harry married Mary Ann (Dever) in February of 1971.
Harry was a retired truck driver and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Harry attended Lanphier High School until he was drafted to the Vietnam War. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. Enjoyed fishing and cooking. He always cherished the time he was able to spend with friends at the VFW Post 99.
Surviving are his daughter Teresa Petitt of Decatur, and son Harry F. Petitt Jr. and wife Chrissy of Decatur, grandchildren Drew Petitt, Drayvin Petitt, and Lyncoln Petitt all of Decatur, sisters Phyllis Willett of Springfield, IL and Erica Brent of Lincoln, Nebraska, and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, his daughter April Dawn Petitt, brothers Jim and Fred, and sister Kathy.
The family would especially like to thank the nurses and staff in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for their compassion and care as Harry transitioned home.
