Homer Ralph Weikle Jr., 78 of Maroa died in Decatur Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 10, 2021.
A funeral service to celebrate Homer’s life will be held 10:30 am. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Life Builder’s Church of God (833 West Pershing Road Decatur, Illinois 62526). Visitation will be from 9:00 am to service time also at the church. A private burial will take place at the Maroa Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Maroa Library Board. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Homer was born in September of 1942 in Pueblo, Colorado son of Homer Ralph and Owinda Weikle Sr. He grew up in Guymon, Oklahoma. He worked on the harvest crews in Nebraska, Idaho and Wyoming. He was a member of the Maroa Library Board, President of the Odds and Evens Club, Man at Arms of the Roman Knuckle Lock Club. He married Judy and had a son, Terry Weikle, he later married Louise E. and had Corena and Anthony Weikle. After moving back to Decatur Homer married Marcia and had two sons, Homer R. Weikle III “Skip” and Mathew Scott Weikle. Homer worked for Perfect Window Cleaners, Millikin University culinary staff, Case Tractor Dealership, head custodian for Maroa Grade School and manager of Forsyth McDonalds. Homer called Marcia when she was having health issues and they were apart, reading her scriptures and memorized her favorite psalm 121:1 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help”
Surviving are his children, Terry (Lucy) Weikle of Spokane WA., Corena Cabral of Pocatello, ID., Anthony (Kristy) of Harrisburg, SD., Skip (Kristen) Weikle of Bloomington, IL., Scott (Vicki) Weikle of Fayetteville, AR., grandchildren, Cassandra Weikle, Allison Weikle, Jennifer Leslie, Jedidiah Cabral, Larry Weikle, Conner (Jenna) Weikle, Patrick (Kylie) Weikle, Sarah (Jon) Greenwood, Joeseph Weikle, Parker Kendrick, Stephen Weikle, Lexie Weikle-Christiansen and husband Tyler Christiansen, Ian Weikle, Reis Kendrick, Nelson Kendrick great grandchildren, Zoe, Allison, Violet and Lincoln Leslie, Wyatt and Nikolas Weikle, Judah Scott, Theophilus Armin and Phoebe Jo Weikle, Dexter, Vincent, Greyson, Lydia and Amelia Bates, Iliana Marie Greenwood. Also surviving are his step-parents, Joseph and Marlene Sichette of Baltimore, MD., brother, Joseph and Pat Sichette of Baltimore, sister Margaret and Eugene Anthony of Glen Burnie, MD., sister, Rita Kerrigan of Tampa Bay, FL., brother, James and Donna Sichette of Joppa Town, MD., sister, Diane and Wayne Ammer of Baltimore, sister, Ida Graham of Baltimore.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, wood working, music and reading. He especially loved his grandkids.
