Irene Freeze 1945-2019


Irene Freeze, 73, of Decatur, died in her home on Saturday, May 18, 2019.

A memorial service and visitation to celebrate Irene’s life will be 5 to 7 pm. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Pilgrim Holiness Church (2625 E. Prairie St., Decatur, IL) with Pastor Vic Hedden officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105). Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service & Care is in charge of arrangements.

Irene was born in November of 1945, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the daughter of Julio and Mercedes Casias. She completed middle school and worked in retail. Irene married Charles Wayne Freeze in December of 1969. They attended Pilgrim Holiness Church in Decatur.

Irene is survived by her husband; daughter: Tara (Daron) Drake; grandson: Ryan Robinson; granddaughters: Karson Drake, Demi Drake; great grandson: Rogan Robinson. Also, brothers: Ben Casias, Gilbert Casias, and Richard Casias; sisters, Lydia Sintas, Lorraine Gonzales, Jean Bonetta, and Mary Vasquez

She was preceded by son: Roy Robinson; sisters: Lela Gonzales and Rose Gonzales; brothers, Ted Casias, Jesse Casias, William Casias and Johnny Casias.

Irene was known to be friendly, cheerful, under tall, salt & pepper hair and teal hair. Her siblings’ memories of her were eating dirt, eating pinons (pine nuts), and her father owning a gas station. She loved cooking Mexican food, homemade tortillas, tamales and enchiladas. One of her special memories was a trip to her hometown in Colorado with her granddaughters. Her favorite things were angels, smileys, the LA Dodgers, baseball, and antiques. She loved saying “I love you more” and her favorite music style was country. Irene’s hobbies included word searches, bird feeders, crocheting and chair yoga. Her family and friends will miss her phone calls.

  1. Irene , you were so good to me growing up and never forgot about me when I got older. We got to reconnect back some years ago @ Sears and you still had the same twinkles coming from your eyes! You were always a definition, of True Beauty !! Tara and the rest of the Family, I send my Love and Hugs to you all.
