Jack Lee Dickey, 83, of Decatur died Sunday, October 30, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
A funeral service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 11 AM at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur, with Randy Thacker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. A graveside service will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Jack was born June 23, 1939 in Pawnee, Illinois, the son of Edgar A. Dickey and Mary H. Catizon. He married his friend and loving wife, Mary I. Turner, on June 28, 1969.
Jack was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a US Army veteran. He was a graduate of Pawnee High School and worked as an electrician for 38 years at Caterpillar.
Jack found great joy from walking through nature or sitting around a table laughing with family and friends. He had a gift for telling stories and appreciated a good joke. Jack enjoyed many hobbies that reflected his awe of the world around him. Jack and Mary celebrated 50 years together prior to her passing in 2020. But most of all, he loved Jesus and telling others about his Savior.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Tim) Yeakley; five grandchildren, Zachary, Emory, Jonas, and Irina Yeakley, Alexandria Schroeck; Brothers, William and John; Sisters, Louise Krell, Susann Schumacher and Judith Cotter.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, John; and his brother, James.
