Jesse David Hite 1933-2022

Jesse David Hite, 88 of Decatur, Illinois, passed away and transitioned into his heavenly home on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10:50 AM.

Visitation will be held at Destiny Fellowship Church (2500 North Main Street, Moweaqua, Illinois) at 9:00 to 11:00 am with the funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday, August 13, 2022. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery (formerly Odd Fellows Cemetery), Moweaqua.

He was born in December of 1933, in Oakley, Illinois, the son of Virgil and Laura Hite. He graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in 1951, and married Carol Jean Barnett in December of 1952. She preceded him in death in February of 2013.

Jesse served on the Macon School Board, South Macon Township Fire Department Board, Heartland Community Church Board, Full Gospel Businessmen’s Board and Destiny Fellowship Church Board. He was a farmer who also enjoyed camping, boating, three wheelers and trap shooting with his family. His lifestyle was that of helping others see the love of Christ as he experienced his own life healings and the fullness of knowing His Savior.  Jesse started the tradition of making and eating homemade ice cream after Spring planting and the Fall harvest which was carried on throughout his lifetime.

Surviving are his children: Rod (Joyce Oliger) Hite of Moweaqua, Illinois; Mark (Ellen Schumacher) Hite of Macon, Illinois; Dana (Brenda Davis) Hite of Forsyth, Illinois; Craig (Tammy Born) Hite of Alpharetta, Georgia; and Heather (Kevin) West of Batavia, Ohio.

Also surviving are sister, Roberta Hite; Sisters in law: Barbara Barnett, Teri Jo Smith and brother-in-law, Rusty Barnett, and many nieces and nephews.  His grandchildren include Matthew (Stephanie) Hite, Kelsey Hite, Zachary (Vien) Hite, Ryan (Molly) Hite; Dustin (Christina) Hite; Brittney Hite (Spencer) Whitaker; Kaleb (Sammi) Hite; Jesse (Emilie) Hite; Holly (Nathan) Swigert; Eric Hite; Jace Hite; and Kaylie West. His great grandchildren are: Larissa, Cade, Camilla, McKenna, Madison, Macy, Jamison, Jakob, Austin, Elijah, Piper, Kaylynn, Kristin, Mia, Dorothy, Will, Charlie and Norah.

Jesse was preceded in death by parents; his brother, Howard F. Hite, and Janet of Dalton City, IL; in laws, Robert and Cheri Riedlinger of Decatur; and granddaughter Carolyn Hite.

Jesse’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Linda Brinkley, who was a loving and nurturing friend to Jesse the last few years.
