John R. Lawler, age 87, died at Decatur Memorial Hospital on June 16, 2019.
John was born in June of 1932 in Decatur, Illinois, to John and Minnie Lawler. He married Charlotte Salefski in June of 1957. John worked as a railroad electrician for over forty years and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and tinkering in the garage.
John is survived by his wife Charlotte, their three children; daughters Dawn (Mike) McCoy, Julie (David) Smith, and son, Jay (Genea) Lawler.; grandchildren: T.J. McCoy (Brittanie), Gavin (Stefanie) McCoy, Stephanie Smith (Eric), Lindsay (Adam) Siefman, Megan (Jacob) Shackelford, Nathan (Danielle) Lawler, Ryan (Brittany) Lawler, Maddy (Nathan) Jefson, and Molly Lawler (Sean); ten great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Donald and David Lawler.

A funeral service for Mr. Lawler will be at Trinity Lutheran Church (1960 E. Johns Ave.) on Wednesday, June 19, beginning at 12 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Versemann, officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour before the service (11 am.). Graveside Service and Burial following, Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown.
