Judith “Judy” E. Beaman 1935-2020

Judy Beaman, age 85, died on November 16, 2020.

Judy was born in Hammond, Indiana in November of 1935 to E. Frank and Elma Beaman.  Judy grew up in Decatur, Illinois and was a 1956 graduate of Millikin University.

She married John Dieterich and they had three children whom they raised in Decatur, Illinois and Santa Fe, New Mexico.  After her divorce in 1983, Judy moved back to Decatur to be near her large extended family and has spent her years since in central Illinois.

Judy was known for her adventurous spirit, sense of humor, laughter, genuine love of people young and old, and her love of old movies.  The tribute in her high school yearbook appropriately reads, “If you don’t know her, you haven’t lived.”  A true Beaman, Judy loved old houses and lived in many, carefully remodeled and decorated to represent her warmth, color and personality.  Judy was dedicated to her children, family, and friends and she will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her daughters Diana Fornwalt and Debbie Dieterich (Steve Rodriguez); grandson John Fornwalt; cherished brother Frank “Dode” Beaman (Sandee); brother-in-law Steve Hurst; her eight nieces and their families, and many friends near and far.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kathryn Hurst, son David Dieterich, granddaughter Leslie Fornwalt and sister-in-law Margaret Beaman.

A special heartfelt thank you to everyone who cared for Judy in her final days, specifically, Decatur Memorial Home Hospice (Susan and April) and to Judy’s sister-in-law, Sandee Beaman.  Memorial to be held at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Decatur Memorial Home Hospice.

Please sign the family guestbook.
