- Leon “Buck” Charles Parton Jr., 50, of Blue Mound died 8:37 pm Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of Buck’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 10 am, in the First Christian Church of Blue Mound (100 South Lewis Street, Blue Mound, IL 62513). Service will also be live streamed through First Christian’s Facebook page. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Monday, January 17, 2022 also at the church. Burial will take place following the service in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois. Military Honors will be given by the Macon County Honor Guard. Masonic Rites for Buck will be at 8:00 pm on Monday. Memorials may be directed to William and Wesley Parton College Fund, c/o Jill Parton. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Buck was born in December of 1971, in Decatur, IL, the son of Leon C. Parton Sr. and Barbara Parton. He graduated Blue Mound High School in 1989. Buck proudly served his country in the US Navy. He later went to work for IV Container, ADM Trucking, and was currently employed with IDOT. He was an active member of First Christian Church of Blue Mound. Buck was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and Cub Scouts, a member of the Masonic Lodge Blue Mound 682, a Park Board Member of Blue Mound, as well as a member of Meridian Junior Football League. Buck married Jill Marshall in May of 2007 in Decatur, IL.
Buck enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling stories, and spending time with his family and friends. People always knew Buck for his smile, ability to make others laugh, his great story telling and funny jokes. Buck was a great role model for his boys.
Surviving are his wife, Jill Parton; sons, William and Wesley Parton; sister, Lynette Parton; nephews, Jeremy Craft, Braeden Nash, Greyson Poggemiller; nieces, Ellyana Nash, Mackenzie Maeda, Emielia Nash, Ryan Eastwood; in-laws, John and Mary Marshall; sister and brother in-laws, Jenny (Casey) Maeda, Jodie (Billy) Nash, Julie (Eric) Poggemiller, and a host of extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Barbara Parton, sister Suzette Parton and many extended family members.
