Lillian Whitney, 90 went peacefully into her savior’s arms on July 26, 2019 at Imboden Living Center. She passed away the same way she lived quietly and on her own terms.
Lillian was born to Henry and Martha Roarick in Decatur. IL. She was one of thirteen children and is survived by one sister Wilma Garner in Memphis, TN. She was employed at Dutch Mill Candies, Raycraft Pharmacy and Haines and Essick in Fairview Shopping Center. She married Robert Whitney in 1951 and they spent 66 years together before he passed away in 2018. They had two children together, Bruce and Sherry. Lillian loved collecting Precious Moments and has passed that love to her granddaughter Stephanie. She also collected Japanese stamps and she and her family spent many vacations hunting sea shells. She loved animals and had many thru out the years but loved her dog Tribbles especially. Her great love was her family and she loved playing games and spending time with them. Lillian also collected people, which was evident in the last few days as the stream of people from Imboden who came to say goodbye. From Maintenance, Nursing, CNA, Dietary, Admin and Janitorial, they came to give kisses and say their goodbyes to “Mrs. Butterworth”. Lillian always carried herself with quiet dignity which she carried thru to the end. Lillian loved the Lord and attended Life Foursquare Church where she loved working with children and teaching Sunday school in her youth.
She was preceded in death by two twin babies Mark and Marsha Wilson, husband Robert, daughter- in-law Carolyn Whitney, grandson Justin Whitney and 10 brothers and sisters.
Lillian is survived by son Bruce R. Whitney (Debra), daughter, Sherry Zaragoza (Thomas), four grandchildren, Jeremy Whitney, James Welker, Stephanie Zargoza, Brad Wall, two step granddaughters, Jennifer Schoonover, Katherine Hammon and 10 great grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all of our “Family” at Imboden Living Center. They have cared for Lillian for the past two years with love and compassion and especially in the last week. They not only cared for her but cared for us also. They fed, held and cried with us to the end. A more caring and compassionate group of people could not be found. Thank you for all you do each day.
