Lohrene Sue Cerny 1960-2021

Lohri Sue Cerny, age 61, passed away peacefully May 12, 2021.

Family and friends grieve over our regrettable loss, while we celebrate her life and union with our Lord in heaven. God’s perfect timing has called her home, now at peace after years of suffering.

Lohri was the daughter of Frank Cerny Jr. and the late Patricia Gay Cerny. She was the oldest of four siblings and spent most of her childhood years taking on the “big sister” role in the family. Lohri graduated from Lakeview High School in Decatur, IL, as class valedictorian in 1978. She continued her education earning an Associate’s Degree at Richland Community College then Bachelor of Arts Accountancy degree at Sangamon State University. Lohri lived in Decatur all of her life. She had a strong work ethic, instilled from her parents, working most of her life including retiring from the Decatur Public Library in 2020. Lohri had many good friends, adored animals, and loved her family dearly. Her witty humor will be missed. She was a long time Chicago Cubs fan, in cahoots with sister Julie and life long friend Vickie, although the rest of us will not hold that against her, lol. Lohri died way too young yet memories of her will last forever. Au revoir and Adios (A Dios vais) to our daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and good friend. Psalms 59:16 But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.

Surviving family ● Father, Frank Cerny ● Step-mother, Patty ● Siblings: Tammy (Tim) Sears, children Molly Czerniak and Jill York; Greg (Lorna) Cerny, children Joanna Trinidad; Todd (Darlene) Cerny, children Jack and Charlie; and Julie (Dan) McHenry, children Nicole Seiter, Megan, and Nathan.

Preceded in death by mother, Patricia G Cerny.

Memorials may be made to Glad Tidings Assembly of God (Decatur), Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, or the Chicago Cubs bullpen. As staying true to what we believe would be Lohri’s wishes, a small celebration of life service will be held when the family is able to come together once again.

Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is assisting the family.
