DECATUR – Loren Lee Mowry, 90, of Decatur, surrounded with family by his side, departed from his earthly to heavenly home on Friday, April 26, 2019, while at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Memorial Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 4135 Mt. Auburn Road, Decatur, IL 62521. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care are in charge of arrangements. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials: Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
Loren was born at home on September 15, 1928, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Archie Edward Mowry and Flora Bell (Curtis) Mowry. Loren married Norma Jean (Deakins) Mowry on October 21, 1951, at Bethlehem Church, Decatur, IL. They shared 67 years of marriage, recently renewing their vows last Christmas Sunday. Loren retired from Mississippi Valley Structural Steel Company in inventory control. He and Norma managed home delivery of the Wall Street Journal newspaper for 25 years. Loren also retired from the Mt. Zion School District, where he served as a school custodian. Loren was member of Bethlehem Presbytherian Church and the Decatur Genealogiacal Society.
Surviving are his wife, Norma; son, Ike Lee Mowry of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Donna Jean Hord of Decatur, Illinois; sister, Wanda F. Williams, of Ashland, Illinois, nieces and nephews. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ernest Mowry, George Mowry, twin sisters, Deloris Wright and Dorothy Taylor, and Brothers- in-law, Paul Williams, John Wright, and Harlan Taylor.
