Tootie was born in Decatur in December of 1931 the daughter of Edward T. and Linnie Pearl Snyder. Tootie was a lifelong resident of Decatur and if anyone had a long hard life, it was her. Tootie was a take charge person and helped her mom raise her younger siblings. She married her first husband at a young age and gave birth to five boys raising them and her younger brother Leonard. She worked several jobs and struggled to keep her family together but divorced and raised her boys on her own until she met and married Bill and he took her and her five boys in as his own. The family grew by three more children and they all became a family instantly. Family meant everything to Tootie. She had many jobs in her lifetime which included FW Means, Sears, Walgreens Cafeteria downtown Decatur, Payless Manager on Eldorado St. and Mt. Zion, Interior Sales and Design for Miller O’Neal and In Home Daycare. Her most rewarding job was raising her children. Tootie loved to cook and was famous for her homemade noodles.
