Maggie was born in August of 1924, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Isaac and Margueritte (Harrison) Williams. She graduated from Argenta High School in 1942, where she co-wrote the school fight song that is still used today.

She married the love of her life, David G. Witts in April of 1954 in Decatur, IL. Together they built their home and love for each other from the ground up. Leading a life based on trust and faith, they brought out the best in each other for 63 years. They enjoyed taking trips to the family cabin twice a year, bowling, fishing, playing Yahtzee, watching Cardinal baseball, and even the occasional square dance.

A woman of God, Maggie was a member of Oreana Christian Church. Lovingly referred to as a “kid-magnet”, she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She enjoyed the little things in life, tending to her flowers, listening to her wind chimes, or finishing a word search.

Maggie set the standard for raising a family with impeccable values. She taught them to find strength in love, and joy in life. Most importantly, she instilled the significance of family. An invitation was never required for Sunday dinner. Each week after church she would prepare a homemade dinner for the entire family. These are traditions that will not be forgotten, but embraced by generations to come.

Maggie is survived by her loving husband and three children, Tim (Robin) Witts of Oakley, IL, Kent (Joanne) Witts of Decatur, IL, and Kim Witts of Oreana, IL. Her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and four sisters.

The family extends a special thank you to Marshena Banks and Donna Basham for the excellent care they provided.
