Marvon G. Tague, age 84 of Mt. Zion, died Thursday October 27, 2022, in Moweaqua Rehab Center.
Funeral Service to Celebrate Marvon’s life will be held 10:00 am Tuesday November 1, 2022, at Trinity Church of the Nazarene Decatur. Visitation will be Monday October 31, 2022, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm also at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Marvon was born in October of 1937, in Decatur son of Earl and Goldie Tague. He lived on a farm in Hayworth IL. and had many fond memories of time spent with his grandfather. He attended Decatur High School. Marvon married Patsy C. Maddox in July of 1957, and they shared 65 years together. Marvon worked at Firestone in Decatur and Champaign. He continued his automotive career at Goodyear in Decatur, where he became known as “Mr. X”. He worked for Bob Trowbridge at Gebhart’s where he eventually took over the repair shop starting Marvon’s Automotive. In 1980 Marvon and his family moved to Sacramento, CA. where he worked as Associate and Youth Pastor for First Church of the Nazarene. He moved back to Decatur in 1987 where he built his own repair shop resuming Marvon’s Automotive. Marvon adored his family time and his church. His hobbies included classic cars and he enjoyed bow hunting for deer.
Surviving is his wife, Patsy Tague of Mt. Zion, sons, Timothy M., Randall J. (Shawnda) of Decatur, Kriston L. (Sandy) of Orangevale, CA., David K. (Mandy Walters) of Houston, TX., daughter-in-law, Phyllis Tague of Lumberton, TX., brothers, Maurice (Donna) of Decatur, Greg (Rose) Garren of Sherman, IL., sisters-in-law, Alberta Tague and Pamela Trudeau of Decatur, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Irene Tague, Kent and Katherine Nisbet, several brothers and sisters.
