Michael Thomas Flesch, 56 years young of Decatur stood at the bottom of the staircase knowing what was awaiting him at the top and ascended the “Stairway to Heaven” to meet his wife and mother for their joyous reunion.
Mike was born in Decatur in August of 1963, the third child of Ronald and Sandra Flesch. He lived his entire life in Decatur and Mt Zion. He graduated from Mt Zion High School in 1981. He continued his education at RCC and the U of I Springfield earning his Master’s Degree. Mike married Jennifer in July of 1989. They adopted two children, Avante and Naithan. Mike spent nearly the last 3 decades working for ADM and retired in June of 2019 so that he could dedicate his life to the care of his son Naithan. Mike never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his larger than life Heart. He gave so much and never took anything in return.
Mike is survived by his sons Avante and Naithan, father Ron Flesch, sister Dawn Austin (Max), brothers Greg Flesch (Carey) and Scott Flesch (Jenni), several loving nieces and nephews, best friend Doug Rozell, his dog Sasha and more than 1 billion friends, or so it seemed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer, his Mom Sandy, his grandparents and father and mother-in-law Stub and Sue Hohenstein.
A special love and thank you to Jessica and Alyssa Kennedy for all they have done for Mike and Naithan. Words cannot describe what you have meant to them. We thank God for you! You were always there for them. ALWAYS!
Per Mike’s wishes there will not be any services. In Lieu of flowers please send any donations to UCP Land of Lincoln.
