Buddy Richard Ellis, 81, of Decatur died 2:03 P. M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.\nFuneral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 4, 2017 in Life Builders Church of God, 833 West Pershing Road, Decatur, with Pastor Tim Lusitana officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2017 in the Church. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials would be appreciated to the American Heart Association or Decatur Memorial Hospital. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\nBuddy was born in January of 1936 in West Frankfort, Illinois. He was the son of Lucyan and Oralee Ellis. He worked for the State of Illinois and later was in charge of the shipping and receiving department at Firestone Tire and Rubber for many years, retiring in 1993. He was a very active member of Life Builders Church of God. He loved his family and God. Buddy married Joann McCormick in Decatur on June 30, 1979 and she survives.\nSurviving are children Mark Ellis and wife Becky, Kevin Ellis and wife Kris, Dee Frantz and husband Reed, Sandy Johnston and husband Dave, Debra Wetzel, Cheri Pummill and husband Greg, and Beverly Chizevsky-Allen; 16- grandchildren; and 14-greatgrandchildren; sister Linda Garrett and husband Don; and sister in law Donna Ellis.\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Marty and brother Fred Ellis.
