Carroll Doolen Obituary (1932 - 2023)

DOOLEN Carroll Dean Doolen, 91 of Decatur died Tuesday April 18, 2023, in Decatur Memorial Health Center. Per Carroll’s request there will be no public service. If desired memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School P.O. Box 326 Chamberlain, S.D., 57326. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is assisting the family. Carroll was born on April 10,1932, in Decatur, the son of Clyde and Ruby Lawrence Doolen. He was Valedictorian and Vice President of Lakeview High School Class of 1950. He worked for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel until their closing and then Decatur Public School District until retirement. Carroll enjoyed fishing, camping, reading and sports on TV. He married Ruth E. Buck in July of 1976. He was a loving, caring man who loved his family dearly. He was deeply loved by them. Surviving is his wife, Ruth E. Doolen of Decatur, children, Vicki Cooper of Kappa, Illinois, Susan Fryman of Dalton City, Illinois Guy Doolen of Decatur, stepchildren, Allan (Dawn) Buck of Decatur, Paula (Don) Lindstrom of Du Bois, PA., grandchildren, Megan (Rob) Lucas, Joseph (Stephanie) Buck, Kyle Lindstrom, Sarah (Jesse) Jensen, Grace Lindstrom, Wendy (Tony) Real, Laurie Cooper, Travis Walden, Jerrod Atwood, Connor Doolen, great grandchildren, Lucy Real, AudreyAnne Atwood, Braden Jensen, Micah Jensen, Jack Jensen, Hazel Jensen, Riley Buck, Rowan Buck, Teddy Buck. His family will miss his always happy, positive, gritty never give up attitude. Carroll loved going for rides, eating out and holding Ruth’s hand. Please send cards to Ruth’s family @P.O.
