Chevelle (Chevy) Major James Mathis, 3 weeks old, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, August 14,
2024, at SBL Fayette County Hospital.
Burial will be at Griffith Cemetery in Brownstown, Illinois. Memorials may be made out to the charity of the donor’s choice. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born July 19th, 2024, son of Jasmine Kinsey and Devin Mathis. Chevelle loved listening to music, it always made him relax and he would smile so big. His favorite things to do was cuddling, eating and sleeping. He enjoyed being held with his soft blankie in tow and watching his mom, brothers (Blaze and Bentley) and cousin as they played. Chevelle will be dearly missed by everyone, mostly for his baby smell, the cute noises he would make and for his smile that would light up a room.
Chevelle was survived by his parents, brothers; Blaze and Bentley, maternal grandmother Jennifer (NeeNee) Matsko, maternal grandfather Randall (Ashley) Kinsey, aunts and uncles; Alaya (Harley and Uncle Harbey) Matsko, Devon (Leslie) Matsko, Randall Kinsey Jr, Tracie (Nonnie) Spencer, Chelsey (William and Uncle Willy) Spencer, Drew (Brittany) Spencer, Kathleen Hall, Camia Kinsey, Liam Bigelow, Dara (DD) Ledbetter, cousins; Dohnovan, Emery, Elaine, Brooks, Briella, and Kaesen, and special friends Charlie Rathbone and Leann (Mimi) York.
Preceded by his maternal grandfather David Matsko, grandmother Deborah Gallamore, and paternal grandfather James (Jimmy) Mathis
