David Raymond Winter, 71 of Decatur passed on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Arc at Hickory Point.

Memorials can be made out to the Cancer Care Specialist of Illinois (210 W. McKinley Ave Decatur, Illinois 62526). Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born in October of 1954 in Decatur, son of William and Della Winter. David attended Decatur Public Schools and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1972 later joining the Carpenters Local apprentice program working out of Union 742 for over 10 years before going into business for himself in 1987, naming his company David Winter Tile and Marble. He married Kathy on October 23, 1976. David loved the construction field and enjoyed laying tiles and hard wood floors. He especially liked it when homeowners would do specialty designs in their floors, kitchens or bathrooms. Although David retired, he was always on the go, so he went to work for Walmart and loved what he was doing and the people he was with. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Stacey Salanga of Chula Vista, CA, nephew James Winter of Beloit, WI, niece Amy Jo (James) Schoenfelder of Memphis, TN, In-laws Donald and Lorain Sheets of Decatur, IL, and brother in-law and sister in-law Howard and Karen Criswell of Atoka, TN.
Preceded by his parents, brother William Winter Jr, and nephew Andrew Winter.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Cancer Care Specialist of Illinois and all their staff, Dr. Esparaz, Dr. Yoon, Dr. Yang, Dr. Wade and especially Dr. Valasco. Also, we cannot forget a thank you to Sarah Mackey and Tina Wisely. David always looked forward to seeing you all.
