David William Spaugh Obituary (2018)

David William Spaugh, 89, of Decatur, passed away March 2, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 16, 2018 in Graham Chapel Cemetery, in Allenville, Illinois. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made in David’s honor to the Disabled American Veterans. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Services and Care is in charge of the arrangements. David was born in May of 1928, the son of William R. and Gertie E. Spaugh. David never knew a stranger, his door was always open and everyone was welcome. He was married to his sweetheart Colleen (Wakefield) who has been waiting to meet him again in Heaven. David is survived by his twin brother Dwight and his younger brother John, his children, grandchildren, extended family, friends and loved ones, who will all agree…he was one of a kind. David was a loving husband, provider, hard worker, friend, proud Navy man, and an unforgettable story teller; there will never be another man like him. David was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, brother Charles and sister Audrey. “Old sailors never die, they just fade away.”
