Dennis Troy Swarms was surrounded by family when he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 11, 2024.

A memorial service to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held at 3 pm, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at South Shores Christian Church (130 Bristol Dr. Decatur, IL) Pastor Steve Young will be officiating. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements.

He was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL on August 16, 1957. He was the son of Troy O. Swarms and Mary E. Swarms (Cummins). Dennis graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in 1975 and went on to technical school in Indiana. He married Brenda Bottrell, on June 10, 1981, and they had two children together, Kristopher and Daniel. They later divorced in 2004. Dennis was an automotive diesel and equipment mechanic for over 40 years. He was a long-time member of the Prairieland ABATE motorcycle club. He loved project cars, motorcycle riding, and the farm.

Dennis leaves behind four siblings, Mary Slaymaker (Ernie), Scott Swarms (Patty), Terry (Untawnya), and Gussie, Sr. (Shayna). As well as his sons and their families. Kristopher Swarms, Carson City, NV, wife, Dana, and children, Anora and Kyra. Daniel Swarms, Carson City, NV, wife, Elizabeth (Lisa) and children, Madison (Amanda), Payton, and Kolbi

He was preceded in death by his father, Troy O. Swarms, his mother, Mary E. Swarms (Cummins), and sister, Gayla Krause.
