Everett was born in Warrensburg on November 5, 1953, to Jesse James and Mary Lou Stoots. He graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1972 and retired in 2000 from Firestone after 23 ½ years of employment. He married Patricia in April of 2004. He was stubborn, talkative and outgoing and will be remembered for his humor and always saying “click” when he hung up the phone. His favorite things were the computer, phone games, collecting knives and model cars. He loved 70’s rock music and car shows and became an avid Mopar guy. Most of all he enjoyed family time, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife Pat Stoots; children Tom (Shannon) Stoots, Steven Stoots Sr, Kimberly (Dwayne) Black, Jennifer (Drew Craw) Stoots; grandchildren, Kristopher Stoots, Amber (Dylan) Weddle, Austin (Kaileia) Stoots, Steven Stoots Jr, Caitlin (Corbin) Stoots, James (Kimberly) Sample, Matthew Sample, Emma Lawrence, Lillian McNew, Ravyn Craw, baby boy Stoots (Jennifer); great-grandchildren Gabriella Weddle, Brooklynn Weddle, Owen Moore, new baby Weddle; sister Linda Hinthorn and ex-wife and mother of his children, Vicki Hill.
He was preceded by his parents Jesse and Mary Stoots and brothers Joe, Riley, Jesse and Amy
Special Memories
He always made people laugh, no matter their mood. He talked to everyone he came across. He always talked about running from the cops and hot rodding. In 1993 Steven, Kim and him went to visit Uncle Joe during a major thunderstorm that flooded the Mississippi River and we drove through a heavily flooded highway Rt 36 West heading to Hannibal, MO and witnessed a whole tree float across our path and made it through the flood with the assistance from two semi-trucks taillights.
Tom was Kim’s person. They talked every day and had a very special bond. She was daddy’s girl.
He told Jenn that his testimony to coming back from his heart attack was that he asked God to come back for her.
Memories with grandchildren include James making model cars with grandpa; taking Matthew to a car show, maybe 11 years old and grandpa would tickle Stevie and tell him he tasted like chicken. Austin and grandpa would always tinker on the Charger and in the garage, his smile after getting the Charger started was priceless. All the grandchildren would play outside at his house and on Halloween, we would pile up in his van to go trick-or-treating.
The family ‘s last great memory was his birthday, when we all got together at Golden Corral, he was so happy.
