Franklin E. Conroy, Sr. 85 of Cerro Gordo, IL died Thursday November 18, 2021 in McAllen Medical Center, McAllen Texas.\n\nFrank was born in Decatur on January 13, 1936 to Bernard and Rose Conroy. He graduated from Niantic High School then married Mary Lou Montgomery. Frank & Mary had four children Jeanne (Jim) Stewart, Margie (Geoff) DeVries, Frank Conroy, and Mike (Corey) Conroy. He worked at Staley’s as a pipefitter. They moved to Cerro Gordo where they raised their kids, had many friends with whom they enjoyed gathering with and playing cards. Frank built several houses in Cerro Gordo during his Staley strike times and was an avid Cardinal fan. He would often fall asleep in his chair while watching one game on the tv and simultaneously listening to another through his radio’s earpiece. They were avid campers and began spending winters in Texas. He was active in his park at Mission, TX where he taught Sunday School, golfed and shot pool on a men’s league. Mary preceded him in death in 2008. \n\nHe met Pat while bowling in Decatur after being widowed. They fell in love and were married not long after. He and Pat lived in Decatur for a short time but soon moved full time to Mission Texas. Pat passed after spending 10 years with him. Frank had many friends who most often described him “as such a great guy.” Then they would quickly add “he will be missed.”\n\nFrank was a giving soul and gave to many Charities as well as to his family. He loved the Navigators and Shriners. He was active in the park church where he often taught and led services. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather He enjoyed life and loved the Lord.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives and his Nephew Jimmy W. Getz whom he had raised since the age of 9. Surviving are four children, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. \n\nA Funeral Service will be held Saturday Morning, November 27th, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before service. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\n\nHe made sure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be proclaimed at his funeral. His faith was his mainstay and he studied the Scriptures so he could teach and encourage others. Rest in peace Pop.
