Garry Lee Snyder, age 64 of Decatur died Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Hickory Point Christian Village.\nFuneral service to celebrate Garry’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at South Shores Christian Church (230 Bristol Drive, Decatur, IL. 62521). Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 also at the church. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Garry Lee Snyder Memorial Fund, C/O Staley Credit Union (3330 N. Woodford Decatur, IL. 62526) or to the South Shores Christian Church. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1971. He was an avid bowler, loved to gamble at the riverboats, and a St. Louis Cardinals Fan. He worked for and retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 28 and half years and was a member of the Local Union 721. Garry married Patty Thompson in June of 1971 and she preceded him in death April 22, 2010.\nSurviving are his children: Tanya (Bruce) Haubner, Shannan Snyder, Tiffany Snyder; grandchildren, Colton, Makaela and Blake Haubner, Hayley and Kaylin Snyder, Brianna Michael Lewis; great grandson, Jamylen Simmons; brothers, Daniel (Janet) Snyder, Tim Snyder, Ron (Kristi) Snyder; sisters, Christine Binkley, Helen (David) Gogolin, and numerous nieces and nephews.\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a daughter, Rebecca Snyder.
