George William “Bill” McCoy Sr., 88 of Decatur passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Thursday, January 7, 2021.\n\nThere will be a family burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers or food please make a donation to Cancer Care Specialist, DaVita Dialysis on McKinley, Dementia Research, Macon County Senior Center or Korean War Veterans Charles Parlier Chapter in his name.\n\nBill was born in April of 1932 in Decatur, IL., to William Russell and Gladys Marie McCoy. In December of 1961 he married Rita Jolene Parlier in Bellevue, Peoria County, IL. and they just celebrated their 59th anniversary. Surviving are his wife, Rita Jolene, two sons, Billy and Mark, granddaughters, Kaycie (Matt) Henington, Taylor McCoy and Cassidy Walters, great grandchildren, Reese and Raelyn Henington, sisters, Catherine McCoy, Dolly (Gary) Ruthrauff, brothers, Jeff (Mary) Jenkins, Larry (Pam) Jenkins, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many other family and friends.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother.\n\nBill was a retired truck driver with the Teamsters Local 279. He worked on a lot of construction sites. He was a past member of The Loyal Order of Moose, Eagles Club and the Macon County Seniors Center. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War 1952-1955 on the USS McNair DD 679. He took his GED at Millikin University at thirty-four years of age in 1966.\n\nThe family wishes to thank Dr. Atluri, Dr. Guaglione, Dr. Trachenberg, Dr.Tarter Dr. Dawood, Dr. Kris Patel and staff for their care all these years.\n\nBill had a big jokester sense of humor, and he loved to play pool and listening to and recording music. He was a very good handyman.\n\nYou are loved and will be missed.
