Herbert Banning Jr.

Herbert William Banning Jr., 74, of Decatur passed from this life peacefully December 15, 2003, after a long illness. A family graveside service will be held December 22, 2003, at Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Kent officiating. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home 1707 North 12th Quincy, IL 62301.

Herbert was born in Decatur in July of 1929, son of Herbert and Hazel Banning. He married Jeanne Warren on October 22, 1954. He was a 50-year member of the I. B. E. W. #146, retiring from Electrical Service in 1991 where he was an estimator.

He is survived by his wife, sons David and wife Cheryl, Joseph and wife Rachel, daughter Lezlie Rucker and husband Jerry, all of Decatur. Grandchildren Bryan Rucker of Heyworth, Il., Kimberly Banning, Sarah, Wesley, and Anna Banning of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his immediate family, both parents, one sister and two brothers. What a Joyous Christmas they will share! The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Illinois Veterans Home for the excellent care Herb received there during the last 6 years.
