Herma Maria Brinkley Obituary (2019)

Herma M. “Hermie” Brinkley, age 81, of Decatur died at 6:43 pm Thursday, May 23, 2019 in her residence. A Funeral service to celebrate Hermie’s life will be 10 am Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Heartland Community Church (3253 N. Brush College Road, Decatur, IL 62526) with Pastor Joe Bowman officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, May 28, 2019 also at the church. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Community Church Food Pantry. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements. Hermie was born in February of 1938 in Salzburg, Austria, the daughter of Rupert and Maria Gruber. She worked as a CNA for St. John’s Home Health Services and Hospice. She married Eugene Brinkley in December of 1968 and he survives. Also surviving are her children, Joe (Tobie) Odum of Donnalsonville, GA, Jerry (Sue) Odum of Savannah, GA, Jimmy Odum of Madisonville, TN, Michael (Jackie) Odum of Decatur, IL, Kimberly (Jeff) Morgan of Thomasville, IL, Ronnie (Char) Odum of Savannah, GA, Jeannie (Ed) Odum of Decatur, IL, Rob (Dawn) Brinkley of Kalispel, MT, Pixie Pyles of Decatur, IL, Jeff (Laurie) Brinkley of Macon, IL, brother, Robert (Emma) Gruber of Pawnee, IL numerous grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
