James H. Ward, 74 of Decatur passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at home following a short battle with Lung Cancer. He was born in Clinton, Illinois, the seventh of eight children all of whom are deceased. He retired from law enforcement and special education with Decatur Public Schools. James married Shirley (Sronce) in November of 1968 in the First Christian Church in Clinton, IL.\nSurvivors include wife Shirley of fifty-one years, son, James D. and daughter, Christina Hoppin (Pete).\nHis favorite times were spent with family and friends. Jim served in the U S Army from 1965-1967.\nIn lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials to donate.petsforpatriots.org.\nThe family would like to thank Hospice for their wonderful care.\nIt was Jim’s request to be cremated. Memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, October 18, 2019 in First Christian Church (3350 N. MacArthur Road, Decatur, IL 62526).
