James Arnold Whitehead, 86 of Decatur died 12:05 am. Friday, June 7, 2019 at Fairhaven’s Christian Home.\nA graveside service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held 11:00 am. Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Mount Gilead Cemetery Decatur, IL. Pastor Adam Ray will be officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church ( 2727 N. Union Boulevard Decatur, IL. 62526.) Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\nJim was born June 19, 1932 in Hammond, Indiana son of James S. and June L. Whitehead. Jim served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a car repairman for the Indiana Harbor Rail Road. He was an accomplished musician and played the Coronet in several bands. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church.\nSurviving are his brother Frank (Janet) Whitehead of Decatur, two grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Ina, son, Danny and daughter, Karen.
