JoElla M. Offer Obituary (2019)

JoElla Marie “Josie” Offer, 74, died Sunday, April 21, 2019 at 8:45 PM in Fairhavens Christian Home. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Josie’s life will be held 6:30 pm Friday, April 26, 2019 at Maranatha Assembly of God (555 West Imboden Drive Decatur, IL. 62521). Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm until service time at the church. Pastor Dean Rose will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Cemetery Decatur. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements. Josie was born in June of 1944 in Decatur, the daughter of Marion and Doris Groves. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and served as a receptionist at Decatur Animal Clinic. She attended Boiling Springs Church of God, Decatur. She is survived by daughters, Rhonda Johnson (Robert) of Morrison, Tennessee, and Lisa Smothers (Mike) of Mt. Zion, IL; grandchildren: Travis (Danielle), Trevor (Leah), Tristan (Karagan), Jenna, Connor, Kaleb, and Cole; great grandkids: Reed, Bentley, Charli; as well as brothers Tom Groves, and Rodney (Sandy) Groves. JoElla was preceded by her parents, Marion “Junior” Groves, Doris Groves; and sister-in-law, MaryAnn Groves. Her favorite things were her children, grandchildren and family, and she loved country music. Her hobbies included fishing, visiting with friends, crafting and working on her computer. We will all miss the smile that her grandchildren and brothers put on her face.
