John Patrick Downey 72, of Moweaqua passed at 8:21 pm on December 20, 2025, at his home.

A graveside service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 2 pm on Monday, Dember 29, 2025 at Westside Moweaqua Cemetery (N. Ponting Street and W. Cedar Street Moweaqua, Illinois 62550) Mark Thrasher will be officiating. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born in October of 1953 in Atwood, Illinois son of Robert and Dorothy Downey. John retired from a long career with Agrifab and was a member of General Baptist Moweaqua.

Survived by son Brian (Barbara) Downey of Decatur, IL, daughter Shannon Downey of Springfield, IL, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brother James Downey of Jacksonville, FL. And sisters Jenelle (Larry) Wagoner and Connie (Eugene) Gilbert of Moweaqua.

Preceded by both parents, sister Dottie Winberry and brother James Downey.
