Kay (Katie) Sue (Griffin) Coppenbarger, age 68, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 10:56 am in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.\nKatie was born in January of 1952, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Douglas and Doris Griffin. She attended Lakeview High School in Decatur, IL. She worked as a nutritionist for Weight Watchers for 10 years, was General Manager of HDA, and was currently retired. She was the founder of Weight Off with Kay and Friends, pastor, counselor and a motivational speaker.\nKay was bold, beautiful on the inside as well as out. She lit up the room when she walked in. Katie was an inspiration to everyone she met. She was an author in Undoctored by Dr. Davis, prison minister, and she led so many people to the Lord. Her favorite things were her worshipping Jesus (favorite song: “Shout to the Lord” [Holy Spirit you are welcome here]), her garden, Chico’s jewelry, cheetah print, dancing, Jesus, her porch, sitting on porch drinking coffee with her sister Pam, and her fur baby Sadie.\n“My Girl” was a song that daddy sang to Katie all the time. Her favorite scripture verse was II Corinthians 5:17. Mom loved sitting on her gorgeous and inviting front porch drinking coffee and visiting with friends and family. She was a fashion diva, inspiring people toward a healthy life with her weight off with Kay & Friends Facebook group. Above all, mom loved God with all her heart.\nShe married Michael Coppenbarger in June of 1976 and they were married 43 beautiful years. She is survived by her husband; daughters- Dawn Collins (Mayfield), Jennifer Crandall (Mayfield), Kelly Anne Hale (Coppenbarger), Laura Coppenbarger; brothers and sisters – Pam Auton, Debbie McQueen, Debbie Fisher, Doug Griffin, Rick Griffin, Chad Griffin; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and fur baby Sadie.\nKatie was preceded by her parents, Doris (Munyon) and Douglas Griffin.
