Laverna Rose

Laverna Ann Rose, 75 of Decatur died 8:20 pm. Tuesday (Nov. 21, 2006) in her residence. Funeral service will be 11:00 am. Saturday (Nov. 25) at Hidden Valley Community Church 1635 Huston Dr. Decatur, IL. 62526 with Pastor Todd Tuggle officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery. Memorials may be made to DMH Hospice. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Laverna was born in June of 1931 in Escanaba, Michigan daughter of Thomas & Velma Byers Payton. She was raised in North Dakota by her grandparents and graduated from High School in Fairbanks, Alaska. She worked as a secretary for the American Red Cross. She married Robert Rose October 12, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. He preceded her in death in 1978.

Surviving are her twins, Mashelle Rose & husband Tom Lacy and Michael Rose, two wonderful grandchildren, Joshua Rose and Brianna Lacy all of Decatur, brother, Duane Payton of Stanton, N.D., sisters, Pat Cain of Burien Wa., Anita Mayer of Nederland, Tx., very special friend and sister-in-law, Betty Rose, also good friends for over 40 years, Erma Lewis, Pat Lugar and Sue Fisher, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The family would like to thank the Dr’s and staff of Cancer Care of Central Illinois, Pam and the staff at Dr. Fior’s office, all the staff of DMH Hospice Nikki, McKinnon and Robin Durbin for all of their care and kindness for our Mom.
