Lester Blackburn

Lester P. Blackburn, 84 of Decatur, passed away at 12:31 a.m. Thursday November 23, 2006. Services will be held at the Hillside Bethel Tabernacle 3575 Greenhill Rd. Decatur, IL 10:00 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 28, 2006 with Pastor Dan Horath officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the church. Interment will be in Friends Creek Cemetery Argenta, Illinois. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Lester was born in January of 1922 in Geff, IL. He lived and worked most of his adult life in the Cerro Gordo, Argenta and Decatur area. He was employed by Eisners, Tollys Markets and Food For Less in meat department management. He was a member of Hillside Bethel Tabernacle. Lester and his loving wife of 47 years Juanita were married on February 15, 1959. He was a member of UFCW Local 1546.

Surviving are: his wife Juanita (Williams) Blackburn of Decatur, 2 children: Son Byron (Woody) Blackburn and wife Bonita of LaPlace, Daughter Paula Griffen and husband Mike of Atwood, 8 grandchildren: Andrew Blackburn of Ca., Jessica and her husband Les Tolonen of Mi., Andrea and her husband Mike Hackney of N.C., Christina and her husband Steve Mauno of Wi., Andrea Lack of LaPlace, Brittany Blackburn of Atwood, Kayla Griffin of Atwood, Cory Griffen of Atwood, 2 great granddaughters: Fenwood Tolonen of Mi., and Kierstin Hackney of N.C.

He was preceded in death by: his father: Earl Blackburn, mother Lottie (Robinson) Blackburn, brother Baby Fred Blackburn, brother Leroy Blackburn and his sister Helen Tondini.
