Nancy N. Askins, age 82, of Decatur went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 4:45 am in Fairhavens Christian Village.\nNancy was born in March of 1937 in Herrick, Illinois, daughter of Don and Freda Burrus. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. She worked for Goods Furniture Store and was a retired Travel Agent with Village Travel. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Prairielanders Camping Club. She enjoyed camping, making quilts, reading and playing piano. Nancy married Charles Askins in September of 1956.\nFuneral service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 4, 2019 at Concordia Lutheran Church (3303 East Maryland Avenue, Decatur, Illinois 62521). Rev. Dr. David Bueltmann will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\nSurviving are her husband Charles; sons, Bruce (Debbie), Tim, Larry (Robin), Matt (Barb); daughter, Cindy (Dave O’Brien); granddaughters, Amie, Melanie (Eric), Sara (Jason) and Kelly; grandsons, Bill (Cara), Jamie (Tina), Bryan and Keith; seventeen great grandchildren; sisters Donna Smith and Jan Thames of Texas.\nShe was preceded in death by her parents and one great grandson.\nSpecial thanks to all the staff at Fair Havens Christian Village for the care you gave her.
