Ray Russell White, age 82 of Decatur died at 4:45 am. Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.\nA funeral service to celebrate Ray’s life will be 11:00 am. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Central Baptist Church (945 South Jasper Street Decatur, Illinois. 62521) with Pastor David Brown officiating. Visitation will be two hours before the service time at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Centralia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Central Baptist Church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\nRay was born in January of 1936 in Salem, Illinois, son of Guy and Sylvia White. He served in the National Guard and retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1995. Ray was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church and an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. He married Velma E. Fletcher June 14, 1958 in Salem, Illinois.\nSurviving is his wife, Velma White of Decatur, son, Ron (Kathy) White of Sturgis, South Dakota, daughter, Selena K. (Cornell) Jones of Columbus, Ohio, grandchildren, Nicholas, Nichole, Anthony, Brittany and Richard, five great grandchildren, brothers, Don (Sway) White, Darrell (Billie) White, sister, Janice (Rick) Lingafelter.\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\nRay was a great husband, father, grandfather and brother, and he will be deeply missed.
