Richard G. Hoffmann, 97, of Yorkville, IL passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022. Rich was born in May of 1925 in Collinsville. He married Dorothy in September of 1953 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Frost (Frank Herout) and Beth Hoffmann (Mark Kother); son Richard (Mary) Hoffmann; grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Verkruyse, Scott Hoffmann, Andrew (Krystal) Kother and Miranda (Jeremy) Delanty; great grandchildren Lily Kother and Lyla Delanty; and many nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Ruth Sweeney) and beloved wife Dot.\n\nRich enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served until his honorable discharge in 1946. He started his telephone career with Illinois Bell in Alton, IL in 1948. After various management positions in Collinsville, Springfield and Decatur, he retired from AT&T in 1984. \n\nRich began volunteering in Decatur soon after retiring and spent more than 20 years installing Lifelines for Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and was active in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Decatur. \n\nIn 2010, Rich and Dot moved to Springfield to be near their children. After Dot passed, Rich moved to Yorkville in 2019 to be closer to his daughter, Mary. \n\nRich was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed. A private service will be held at a later date with burial in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
