Richard Allen McKinley, 89, of Decatur, died Sunday, August 18, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church (201 W. North Street Decatur, Illinois 62522) Thursday, August 29, 2024. Service will begin at 11:00 am with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Decatur. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard was born in Chestnut, Illinois to Harley A and Minnie McKinley in February of 1935. He graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School. He served in the US Army and married Doris in June of 1956. Richard worked for Mueller Company for 35 years. He was a 32nd degree mason and was a member of the Shriners. Richard loved to fish and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of the YMCA and volunteered at Decatur Memorial Hospital and the Mueller Museum.

Survived by wife Doris; Daughter Michelle (Chris) Peterson of Decatur; son Michael of St. Louis, Missouri: grandchildren Andrew Peterson and Megan Peterson; sisters Bonnie Pope and Rue Copeland of Mt. Pulaski.

Preceded by his parents, three brothers William, David and Lowell, and sister Helen.
