Richard Franklin “Dick” Meckley, 81 of Oreana died Sunday, March 22, 2020 in St. Mary’s Hospital Decatur, Illinois.\nA funeral service to celebrate Dick’s life will be 11:00 am. Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the Oreana Christian Church (500 West South Street Oreana, Illinois 62554). Pastor Dan Perry and John Wayne Meckley will officiate. Visitation will be at the church Wednesday evening, March 25, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, Illinois. If desired memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\nDick was born in May of 1938 in Belvedere, Illinois, son of William and Gladys Meckley. He was a dairy farmer for many years, and after he was well known by his Richard Meckley “Dick’s” Vacuum Sales and Service business. He enjoyed fishing trips with his son, John Wayne and spending time with all of his grandchildren.\nSurviving are his wife Vanara “Jane” Meckley, of Oreana, Illinois, son, John Wayne (Marti) Meckley of Tenneesee, daughter, Susan Kay Meckley-Majors of Clinton, Illinois, 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Kol, Brooke and Autumn, sister, Jane Maher of Freeport, Illinois,\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judith Kay, brothers, Bill, George, Roger, Edward and Bob, sisters, Dorothy, Hazel and Lorraine.
