Robert Henry “Bob” Yingst, 83 of Oreana died on Thursday July 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

A Funeral Service to Celebrate Bob’s life will be held 11:30 am. Tuesday July 15, 2025, at The Cross Church (3253 N. Brush College Road Decatur, IL. 62526). Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:30 am also at the church. Burial will follow at Lester Barnett Cemetery. Pastor Joe Bowman and Pastor Andy Troyer will be officiating. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Bob was born in Altamont, IL. in May 1942, the son of John and Mary Yingst. He worked as a farm hand and was a stock cutter for Firestone Tire Manufacturing for twenty-six years. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. He was avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He had a unique affection for Auctions. Bob and Lydia were married July 8, 1966, and they enjoyed fifty-nine years and two days together.

Surviving is his wife, Lydia Yingst of Oreana, sons, Robert C, (Barbette) Yingst of Lexington, KY., Aaron N. (Amanda) Yingst of Braidwood, IL., grandchildren, Beth (Will) Hunter, Bridget (John) Owusu, Brylie Jo Yingst, step-granddaughters, Hayley and Willa Meyer, sisters, Connie Tipsword, Gladys Austin and Elaine Karnes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill Yingst, Lewis Yingst, John Yingst, sisters, Mabel Fancher, Florence Coble, Elsie Robinson, Ethel Simmons, Rosemary Higgs, Deloris Lilly, Roberta Horath, Caroline Lawhorn and Judy Long.
