Robert Eugene “Bob” Shafer, age 65, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 1, 2020. He was born in December of 1954. He was a 1974 graduate of Lakeview High School. \nHe is survived by his daughters, Laurie Powell and her husband Jeff, Kristen Hernandez and her husband Brandon, and Candi Allen and her husband Rodney; 6 grandsons, Blake, Jack, Leo, Owen, Luke, and Logan; sisters Terrie England and her husband Phil, and Charlotte Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. \nHe is preceded by his parents, Aldin and Delores Shafer; brothers Charles “Chuck” Shafer and Rick Shafer; sister Beverly Grinestaff; stepfather George Newberry; and companion Connie Kincaid. \nHe will be remembered for his gentle presence, spitfire attitude, warm words of wisdom and comebacks that will have you hurting with laughter, and his unwavering love for family, especially his grandsons. \nA celebration of life will take place during the spring of 2021 at the D.A.V .
