Sarah Lynn Backstein, 25 of Decatur died unexpectedly in her residence at 11:06 am. Sunday February 5, 2023.

Funeral service to celebrate Sarah’s life will be 10:00 am. Friday February 10, 2023 at Galilee Baptist Church ( 3470 Christmas Tree Road Decatur, Illinois 62521). Pastor Mark Book will be officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday evening 6:00 to 8:00 pm. also at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family C/O Danyhal Farris. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

Sarah was born in Decatur in January of 1998 the daughter of Danyhal Sorrell. She graduated in 2016 from Eisenhower High School. Sarah worked for U.S. Clean. She enjoyed arts and crafts and being a mom to Kensley. Sarah married Dakota J. Backstein in May of 2021 in Macon, IL.

Surviving is her husband, Dakota Backstein, daughter, Kinsley Backstein, mother, Danyhal (Mike) Farris, grandfather, Edwin Shaw, mother-in-law, Summer Backstein, brothers, Kristian and Cooper Farris, grandmothers, Mary Farris and Bonnie Dixon, numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded by her grandmother Anna Shaw.
