Servata J. Munson, age 106 of Decatur died at 2:45 am Thursday, November 22, 2018 in Generations at McKinley Place Nursing Home.\nA funeral service to celebrate Servata’s life will be held at 11:00 am. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in St. John’s Lutheran Church (2727 North Union Boulevard Decatur, Illinois 62526). Visitation will be one hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery Niantic, Illinois. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. John’s or Trinity Lutheran Church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.\nMrs. Munson was born in May of 1912 in Blairstown, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Minnie Prilz. She worked in retail for Linn & Scruggs and Cherise Imports. Servata was a member of DORCAS, LWML and volunteered for the Red Cross. She married John L. Munson in May of 1935 and he preceded her in death in January of 2000.\nSurviving are her son, John L. (Donna) Munson Jr., daughter, Sharon (Michael) Colbeck, of Decatur, grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Platt, Chris (Heather) Colbeck, Matthew (Katrina) Colbeck, David (Jean) Munson, Diana (Chuck) Troeckler, Matthew (Elizabeth) Gipson, Nathan (Jen) Gipson, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters, Gertrude Brix, Cordelia Cochennour, Hiltrude Masonis.
