Shirley Thompson Hardy, of Decatur, passed away in Decatur Memorial Hospital on December 19, 2017, surrounded by her family.\nFuneral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 22, 2017 in Life Builders Church of God, 735 West Pershing Road Decatur, Illinois, with Pastor Tim Lusitana officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. The family prefers casual attire. Burial will follow in Maroa Cemetery. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service is in charge of the Arrangements.\nShirley Thompson was born in April of 1940 to Andrew and Adelle Thompson. She was married to William David Hardy and to this union were born four children, Kelly Jaros and husband Joel, Shelly Donner and husband Todd, David Hardy and companion Vicki Eller all from Decatur, and Robyn Hardy and companion Dennis Koin of Michigan. Shirley leaves her four children, one brother Ted and wife Patti of Florida; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.\nShirley was a graduate of Maroa High School and was a member of a Fun Club that performed several plays. She was a graduate of Mr. Johns School of Cosmetology and was a hairdresser. She worked for General Electric for several years and also at the Community Center in Maroa. In her early life she loved to go to the car races around Central Illinois.\nShirley was a special mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents John and Alma Dratwick who were a great part of her life.\nThe family would like to thank the staff on the Third and Fifth floors of Decatur Memorial Hospital for their care.
